An Inconvenient Truth

Caught a showing of "An Inconvenient Truth" this afternoon (audience was a combo of young and blue hairs) in NYC. Pretty effective presentation of the facts which hopefully, much of America will see. The movie appears to be in widespread release in June across much of the nation. Will it have an impact? Probably on an incremental scale. It's pleasantly shocking that it would get any theatrical release at all. A quick glance at the list of venues shows California and NY having the most screens (natch), 8 states with no showings at all (includes deep south like Mississippi and Alabama both bastions of scientific thought). All in all a nice film by Mr. Gore and not the borefest one might intitially anticipate. Al weaves in enough of his background and life story to give the whole schmear a nice context and emotional foundation. For a green film I give it 4 stars, as a documentary I would call it an eminently watchable 3.5.

  • European viewers should try and catch the BBC's series on Climate Chaos. It's chilling but also tries to underline how much can still be done over the next 10 years (one of the things being to move out of Florida and Pakistan).
