Warmer Oceans May = More Hurricanes

Statistical analysis seems to indicate that as ocean surface temperatures rise so does the frequency of hurricanes. Is the rise in ocean surface temps directly attributable to global warming, or as skeptics prostelitize, is it just another natural cycle?
